February 2014 sees the launch of IKEA BRÅKIG (Rebellious) – a defiantly up-to-the-minute collection. BRÅKIG is the result of close cooperation between IKEA and the creative collective ArtRebels.
New forms of cooperation with external designers were on the agenda. With a vision of surprising its customers IKEA moved in with creative collective ArtRebels in Copenhagen. Over a couple of days an intense and challenging workshop created a limited edition collection. BRÅKIG was born. The BRÅKIG collection is all about well-designed, functional furniture and interior design details that make no excuses. Quite the reverse. The collection comprises about thirty products that take pride of place in the homes of everyone with an open mind but limited space and a thin wallet. It’s got everything from clever storage solutions and small sized furniture to textiles, china and wallpaper, not to mention new versions of several familiar friends.
Influences from Danish design and a love of Copenhagen are borne out in the choice of techniques, materials and design. Natural materials such as plywood and pine are coordinated with misty pastels and sharp, graphic designs. “BRÅKIG is a remix of IKEA products. It’s about putting together trends, fashion, colour and, not least, attitude. Working with ArtRebels was awesomely challenging, exciting and fun,” says Karin Gustavsson, IKEA.
The BRÅKIG collection launches on 1 February 2014. While stocks last.
