We catch up with local interior designer for Laura Ashley, Karen Burns and delve into the world of designers, trends and interiors.

HOW DID YOU GET INTO THE WORLD OF DESIGN AND LAURA ASHLEY?

From childhood I loved to play with fabrics, ribbons, buttons and whatever else I could get my hands on. I always knew I would end up In the world of Design. After studying in Belfast, I ventured to New York where I got my first real job in design and gained a wealth of experience and confidence. I returned to Ireland several years later and immediately began my roll as interior designer for Laura Ashley which I thoroughly enjoy.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE?

I would describe my style and taste as chic, glamorous and elegant. In my roll as interior designer it is very important to think outside the box to interpret other peoples visions and dreams. No two people are the same and have different ideas for their dream home. In my job I get the opportunity to see many different homes from the chic top floor apartment in Belfast to rural little cottages in Fermanagh.
