Read what Jill O’Neill had to say when she met up with ROCO to discuss her new showroom for ReFound. A company which focus is on creativity and restyling vintage pieces of furniture.
WHAT WAS THE LOOK YOU WANTED TO CREATE IN YOUR NEW SHOWROOM?
It is a beautiful late Georgian terrace in the centre of Belfast. We pretty ‘refound’ it also! I hope to stay in keeping with the nostalgic style of it, but adding a ‘modern vintage’ look. It’s the perfect setting for the ReFound works.
WHAT IS THE ETHOS BEHIND THE REFOUND COMPANY?
The ethos is on ‘sustainable creativity.’ With a focus on great design that's sustainably produced, we offer customers something truly different and individual in interior products. It started out of a love of vintage, nostalgic, eclectic wonderful finds and a desire to share this with a different goal "restyled". It also developed out of a love of local art and creativity, but realising that there wasn’t an opportunity for people to discover both. If you weren’t the type of person to hunt out a market, then you probably didn't own a "ReFound" piece. But I found that people where interested in the furniture; where it had been purchased from, if it had been restyled, and if so, how. I felt that if there was a more accessible platform whereby people could view old and restyled works then the audience would grow, not only for vintage furniture, but also for those artists and designers. And it seems to be true! There are now many different brands offering a variety of eras and styles of vintage, and more artists looking to get involved with what we do at ReFound. To read the full article on ReFound subscribe today to our magazine and receive 25% discount including access to all past issues.
